Best Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Oatmeal cookies are the all time favorite cookies of my kids. There are many ways to bake Oatmeal Cookies. I have tried all sorts of Oatmeal cookies’ recipe but the best recipe is one that Lauren discovered in the internet called “Wyomings Best Oatmeal Cookies”. I made a little variation to the original recipe by adding nuts. Other than that, the recipe is easy to prepare, bake and is very tasty. Quite healthy too with the natural fiber of oatmeal.

Here is my recipe.



3 eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup raisins (Original recipe is 1 cup raisins)
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cps oatmeal.


1. Combine eggs, raisins and vanilla and let stand for 1 hour covered with plastic wrap.

2. Cream butter and sugar.

3. Add flour, salt, cinnamon and baking soda to sugar mixture.

4. Mix well.

5. Blend in egg-raisin mixture and oatmeal. Dough will be stuff.

6. Drop by heaping teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet or roll into small balls and flatten slightly on cookie sheet. To make large oatmeal cookies, I got a 1/4 cup and scooped the dough in it and formed the cookie on the cookie sheet.


7. Bake at 350 F for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly brown.

    my husband loves oatmeal cookies and i tried this recipe for my first ever home-made oatmeal cookie. he loved it so much that he asked me to make another batch for him to take to his office and he told me that they just love the cookies. They couldn’t believe that it was home-made. They thought that he bought it from the store. 🙂 We also shared it to our next door neighbor who have 2 kids and the following day they asked if we still have some cookies left because according to them they were so delicious haha!

    I was so pleased since I’m just starting to learn how to cook and bake. I did change some things a lil bit though. I didn’t follow n0. 1 procedure (let stand for 1hour) since I was in a hurry and I didnt put cinnamon.

    I thank you for this recipe and this website is a great help for me. Your instructions are easy to follow and your recipes are oh so good!

    I’m not good at baking, but I tried to follow this recipe the best I could and the results were amazing! My family and I love cinnamon, which helped a lot because my younger brother hates raisins, yet was able to eat them without thinking about it. My only problem was that they came out hard and not soft and shewy.

    nice recipe, I just have one question I really love cookies and would like to try make my own cookies but we don’t have any baking oven only a microwave oven and a turbo broiler. Is it possible to make a good cookie with them?

    I don’t think the microwave is a good choice, but how about the turbo broiler, has anyone tried to bake cookies in a turbo broiler?

    yum! it tried the recipe its very good!but i think it needs at least 15 mins to bake so that it becomes crispy.i tried to put 2 tsps vanilla and it worked (for me).thanx for the recipe!

    It’s my first time baking by myself and the cookies had a bitter aftertaste. I followed the recipe but I took out the nuts, raisin and switched white sugar to brown.
    I wonder what I did wrong?
    Could it be that I creamed it the wrong way?
    Did I put too much baking soda (I followed the 2 tsps baking soda though)?

    Hi! I followed your recipe but instead of using baking soda i used baking powder. My cookies came out soft. Does using baking powder instead of baking soda affected the texture? I really want my cookies to be crispy. I wonder what went wrong.

    Thanks for the recipe! I tried to make bars instead of cookies because we have a small oven. Instead of waiting for one hour for the raisins to hydrate, I just cut them up and let them stand with the egg for 30 minutes. Also, I put chocolate bar bits (white and dark) and they came out really, really good!
