I read a lot of pinoy blog about spaghetti and they mention na masarap talaga yong nasa makati.. no doubt i agree na masarap talaga yan kahit hindi ko na tikman..

i've never been around in different country but I tried a lot of spaghetti na since elementary pa ako. does anybody try tomato sardines in spaghetti? During Holy week catholic abstain from meat so my mom substitute to this one. it taste good just try it.

Maraming recipe na review ko, marami din brands na tomato and spaghetti sauce na tried ko before but I only stick sa Heinz it's a very rare brand na makikita sa supermarket.. kung meron available the following day sold out na yan.

This week I will cook absolutely NO MSG on the spaghetti sauce even in the label of ingredients can be found in any brand. I will not add any sugar and salt because of spaghetti sauce it is already added on the ingredients specified let the natural taste of your sauce it flow.

the uniqueness of my spaghetti are the following:
1. I use butter instead of regular oil but never tried olive oil before. Why ? it give a long lasting freshness when you refrigerate it.
2. I add "all purpose cream" at the end.. just try what will happen.. like I cook a baked mac :D
3. this is optional but I add this "green bell paper" to flow the smoothness of your ingredients. just like Italian pizza when eat with green bell paper on the top.
4. No ground beef, pork or meat spaghetti canned sauce but I only use libby's Vienna sausage, canned mushroom and "century tuna solid in oil"
5. No banana catchup but this is common in pinoy style. I don't know what style is this that I follow but I've done this before. If you want my experiment recipe i'll add it later.. thanks for reading.. have a nice day.

I am using Tomato ketchup [kasi walang banana ketchup sa supermarket dito sa US eh, unless you to Asian stores] and condensed milk to substitute banana ketchup. I got the idea from my bestfriend's Mom, and it tastes really really good!

Its nice to know that there are others out there who love the Makati Supermarket spaghetti like i do. . I'm 40+ and grew up eating MS Spag at least once a week for many years. My dad would eat there more often and then bring some home for us. We loved it so much that we eventually opened our little resto that served that as one of the few items on the menu. It was a big hit. Dad pirated the cook at MS and had her teach my mom to cook it. I dont have the recipe with the exact measurements for the ingredients, but over the years, I've tweaked it a little bit. I can tell you that I use most of the above ingredients, except there is no oregano, bay leaf, tomato sauce or banana catsup. Instead of the last 2, I use tomato catsup. Since I always cook a big batch, I use the big canned catsup you buy at Smart & Final. (The kind of catsup makes a big difference... it provides a certain "sharpness" to the taste that I couldnt get with other kinds. I use more sugar to offset it tho) I also use some fish sauce. I also like a little "heat" that catches up to you after the sweetness fades, so I put some chili flakes when browning the meat. Oh, and green bell pepper is a must. If you dont like peppers, just chop it up finely. =)- but you need that flavor in there. My family loves it and thinks it as close to what we remember eating growing up. I was always amazed then at how what looked like a "small" package of spaghetti wrapped in foil could blow up to like 5x its volume once we transferred it to our plates! =) As a kid I wanted to think of it as "magic". hehe.

Anyway, writing and thinking about it now is making me hungry and wanting to make another batch. Maybe this wekend? =)

Hello, to all those craving the Makati Supermarket spaghetti, you can get it inside Unimart at Greenhills Shopping Center. Just look for the canteen style food place, near French Baker.

I never noticed if there's a sign saying that it is "Makati Supermarket" spaghetti... My dad says its the same spaghetti from his childhood days and calls it so. He loves it and always orders it for lunch when we do our grocery there. It tastes sweet and pineapple-y. We tried adding pineapple juice to our homemade sauce but it wasn't the same.
